Set off from Fromentine, hop on a 30 minute boat ride and you’ll reach the Port Joinville where you can stroll along the island’s traditional lanes. Hire bikes on the island and visit the citadel, Vieux Château and end your day with a swim in one of the stunning creeks!
The Ile d'Yeu has a wide variety of places to visit on its 23km² of dry land. Standing on a rocky outcrop, the Vieux Château will take you back in time to the invasions between the 14th and 17th centuries. Exuding naval history, you can visit numerous monuments and prehistoric relics. The Fishing Museum is a must-visit to grasp the relationship between land and sea. As you journey from the south to the north east of the island, you will see a rocky coast and Breton scenery followed by a sand belt reminiscent of the island’s Vendée setting. Take your time walking or cycling to explore the beauty of these natural sites.
